What is metal stamping?

Stamping includes a variety of sheet-metal forming manufacturing processes, such as stamping, punching, embossing, blanking, and bending. The process may take place in a single stage, or may occur through a series of stages usually carried out on sheet metal. Generally done on sheet metal, this process may be done in a single state, through a series of stages, or progressive die stamping, also known as a progressive (PROG) die.
